Last updated: Wednesday September 23, 2009 8:34PM

Ballarat & District Soccer Association Junior Presentation Night 2009 by Tony Beggs

Ballarat and District Soccer Association held their Junior Presentation night at Hollioake Park on Wednesday night. Pennant winners were declared and presented for the season’s ladder leaders. Warrnambool ended on top with all open divisions under 17, 15 and 13 while North United won both girl’s competitions under 16 and 13.

Best and fairest winners were shared around the clubs with Viking’s Christopher Van Oirschot winning under 13, North United’s Bonnie Cooper the under 13 girls, Forest Rangers’ Calaam Gilmer-Reeves the under 15, North United’s Keely Shepherd the under 16 girls and Jonathan Moore Warrnambool the open under 17. The under 13 competition was a very close affair with seven players achieving 20 votes or more. Runner up Courtney Farrell was last year’s winner of the girl’s under 13 best and fairest and Keely Shepherd, who won the under 16 girl’s count, had previously won an open under 13 completion best and fairest.

The standout player though was Calaam Gilmer-Reeves in the under 15 competition as he scored a total of 29 votes, which meant that he also was the winner of the Craig Pearce Trophy for the outstanding junior player of the year. Horsham, represented in the competition for the first time, did not go away empty handed as they won two goal kicking awards with under 13 Jake Brazendale and Max Facey winning the under 17 best shooter awards. Other goalkicking awards went to under 13 Girls Julia Antonetti North United, under 15 Brad McCaw Vikings and under 16 Girls Keely Shepherd North United.
